Mindfulness

The important practice we should be teaching our children.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is being aware of your thoughts and feelings without judging them. It is about being present in the moment. It does not mean you are clearing your mind of all thoughts but rather becoming more aware of those thoughts and feelings.

In today’s rapidly changing world, children face numerous emotional challenges. Kids are experiencing more stress and anxiety than ever before. Through mindfulness education, kids can develop a lifelong capacity for greater self-awareness, concentration, patience, and resilience.

Mindfulness is an important practice for educators and parents as it helps us be more present with the children in our care. Being mindful can increase self awareness which can help parents and teachers recognize stress and anxiety triggers. Children reflect the nervous systems of adults around them. To create a mindful environment, we first focus on our own practice first.

We are starting Mindful Monday’s where we will be sharing advice on how to incorporate mindfulness into you and your child’s life! We will be sharing some great resources for teachers to use in the classroom as well so be sure to follow along!
